Course Description
Pre-deployment Training provides the essential knowledge required by all peacekeeping personnel to function effectively in a UN peacekeeping operations.
Course aim

The purpose of pre-deployment training is to increase level of preparedness of peacekeeping personnel in order to allow deployment on UN peacekeeping operations in the mission area.

  • Introduction to UN structure, principles and standards
  • An overview of UN Peacekeeping Operations
  • Mandated tasks of UN Peacekeeping Operations
  • UN standards of conduct
  • Cultural awareness
  • First aid procedures
  • Mine/IED awareness
  • ROE and use of force
  • Practical exercise FTX “Blue flag”
  • Assessment of peacekeeping capabilities and readiness to deploy
