Course Description
This course addresses the conceptual and operational issues involved in integrating a gender perspective into multidimensional peace operations.
Course aim

This course strives to educate and train peacekeepers and all individuals about the academic, conceptual, and operational issues regarding the gender perspective in integrated, multidimensional, broad, integrated, and robust United Nations peace operations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Having completed this course the participants will become familiar with:
  • Sex and gender: Definitions and theories
  • Gender equality
  • Sexual violence, exploitation and abuse
  • Conflict and crisis related violence
  • Women, Peace and Security agenda
  • Women’s role in Peace operations
  • Interviewing Techniques
COURSE NOTES
  • Duration: 5 days (1 week)
  • Seat allocation: 25 participants
  • Upcoming course iterations: April 22-26, 2024
  • Training audience: Employees of national and regional governmental agencies, as well as IOs and NGOs deployed to the region. The course is open to NATO, PfP, MD, ICI and other nations as approved
