A course on gender aspects in UN peacekeeping operations is being held in Almaty

The four-day classes are organized at the Peacekeeping Training Centre of the Ministry of Defense with the support of the Embassy of Canada to Kazakhstan.

The purpose of this course is to raise awareness of the national contingent personnel on gender issues in United Nations peace support missions.
The training program has been developed by the instructors of the Centre and it is being conducted in collaboration with the UN-Women experts.
Gender issues are relevant and inherent part of United Nations peacekeeping in general and the national peacekeeping contingents’ training process in particular.
It should be noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan, following the UN recommendations on gender policy, regularly deploys female military personnel in peacekeeping missions.
