Language training is an important potential component in peacemaking

More than forty military servants from different units and formations of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan to receive language training at the Peacekeeping Training Centre in Almaty.
Given the increasing involvement of Kazakhstan military servants in UN peacekeeping activities, knowledge of the English language is essential. It is required for a successful accomplishment of the missions within multinational peacekeeping contingents, as staff officers or UN military observers.
– We provide all necessary facilities and conditions to conduct training. Instructors are ready to do their best to ensure that each attendees reaches the required level of knowledge by the end of the training course," Colonel Ruslan Mayermanov, the acting Commandant of Peacekeeping Training Centre, said at the opening ceremony of the language course.
The training of the officers and sergeants is designed for six months. The curriculum is aimed at developing students' speaking skills, developing the ability to read and write in English.
Students are divided into groups based on their level of language training. If necessary, a special introductory phonetic course is given. At the final stage of training, military personnel will take a separate, two-week course on military terminology in peacekeeping operations.
