For the first time, an officer from the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan is participating in a UN peacekeeping mission in Congo

Major Batyr Tuyakov has been deployed to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a military observer.

He was selected for this mission as one of the experienced officers, having previously served as an officer in the liaison department of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.

In accordance with the mission's mandate, the Kazakh peacekeeper will be performing tasks related to observing peaceful processes in post-conflict zones and ensuring compliance with peace agreements for a period of 12 months.

Thus, the Parliament-supported initiative of the President to expand the participation of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in UN peacekeeping missions is being implemented.

It is worth noting that the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo was established in 2010 with the aim of protecting the civilian population, humanitarian personnel, and consolidating peace.
