A delegation from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the United Nations headquarters

The military delegation from the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, led by the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Sultan Kamaletdinov, visited the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Members of the Kazakh delegation met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations in UN Department of Operational Support, Atul Khare. The parties discussed issues related to peacekeeping development and also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations for the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent in the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) mission on the Golan Heights.

"For the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, this is a historic step. While our peacekeeping contingent previously served as part of units from other countries, it is now an independent mission. Participation in peacekeeping missions is an important component of training that contributes to enhancing the combat readiness of military personnel," noted Lieutenant General Sultan Kamaletdinov.

Additionally, working meetings were held with representatives of the structural units of the UN Secretariat to discuss further expansion and strengthening of the peacekeeping potential of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
