AMBASSADOR OF CANADA TO KAZAKHSTAN VISITED PEACEKEEPING TRAINING CENTRE OF THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan Alan HAMSON and Defense Attaché assistant Captain Second Rank Ronald GAUTHIER became acquainted with the tasks of the Centre, where military personnel are trained to take part in peacekeeping missions, during the working visit. 
The Head of the Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAZCENT), Colonel Bauyrzhan Nigmetullin, gave a history of KAZCENT's founding as well as an overview of its key focuses.
The Ambassador and Defense Attaché assistant also became acquainted with the education programmes, including Intensive Language Training and UN Protection of Civilians Course in the framework of UN peacekeeping operations.
The sides discussed gender issues in peacekeeping during the meeting. Canada is one of the states actively promoting UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security». In June this year with the assistance of the Canadian Embassy and UN Women, course on this topic was held in Almaty.
Alan Hamson, the Canadian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, thanked everyone for hospitality and stated willingness to work together at the conclusion of the conference.
