Military personnel study the law of armed conflict

In accordance with the plan of bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Law of Armed Conflict course has been organized in the Peace Operations Centre in Almaty.

At the opening ceremony, the Head of the Peace Operations Centre of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Bauyrzhan Nigmetullin, thanked the representatives of the ICRC mission for their contribution to raising awareness of military personnel in the sphere of IHL.

In turn, the Head of the ICRC mission in the Republic of Kazakhstan Zeljko Lezaja expressed gratitude to the Head of the Centre for offering the course platform.

During the course, representatives of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Border Service of the National Security Committee will get acquainted with the norms of IHL applied in UN Peacekeeping Operations, with prohibited means of warfare, with the principles of proportionality and military necessity, as well as the protection of cultural values.

At the end of the course, students will receive certificates.
